EPA testingThe All-Akron Student Engineering Program has given me the great opportunity to grow both my experience and extensive knowledge of my Career Pathway as a whole. Starting off, I thought I wanted to be something along the lines of an architect and joined the program on a whim, not even expecting an internship. However, after experiencing the program, in conjunction with meeting Mr. Cavanaugh, I realized how broad and intricate the engineering pathway truly is. The more I attended the workshops, learned how to hold a conversation, and the do’s and don’ts of professionalism, I grew curious and excited for what was up ahead until I finally landed my internship with the City of Akron.

Honestly, I don’t even know where to start. The City has given me so many learningEPA testing 2 experiences with so many exemplary mentors with their own unique ways of showing and teaching me their departments. I’ve gotten to see ongoing restorative projects, learn about the state of our city and the actions being took to better it’s condition, the intricacies of our water maintenance, and finally, the skills and the confidence for pathway I want to take in the future. My internship not only allowed me to experience the wide array of departments, but also helped me solidify my career choice as a Civil Engineer. I sincerely thank Mr. Cavanaugh, Travis, and all of the City Employees, from the Project Managers to the College Interns. I appreciate you all for giving me the opportunity to learn and experience the hospitality of a professional work environment. I couldn’t have asked for a better internship.
