About the information on this map
During rainfall events, pipes that carry sewage and stormwater together can overflow through relief points called combined sewer overflows (CSOs). CSOs allow excess flow to discharge to nearby water bodies, preventing backups at storm drains and in basements. This map gives the most current information available on recent CSOs to allow people to make informed decisions about recreation in our local lakes, streams and rivers.
While this is the most current information available, the real-time data has not yet been reviewed for accuracy. The official, verified data can be found in the monthly reports submitted by the City of Akron to the Ohio EPA.
