On Saturday, October 19th, an Open House was held at the Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel Diversion Structure from 10am to 2pm. The event gave residents the opportunity to take some time and learn about the various projects happening on the North Side, including the North Side Interceptor Tunnel and the removal of the Gorge Dam.
Residents were also able to tour the Diversion Structure and speak with staff members from the Water Reclamation Facility about the inner workings of the structure.
Thomarios joined the event to talk in depth about the Northside Project and teach all the open house attendees how a Baffle Drop Shaft works and show off a miniature replica of "Elaine," the tunnel boring machine set to dig the Northside Interceptor Tunnel.
Elaine Marsh, from the Summit Metro Parks, gave residents an opportunity to learn about the benefits of removing the Gorge Dam and how this undertaking will improve the water quality in the Cuyahoga River.
Thanks to all who came out and for your engaging questions and general curiosity over the happenings in your area, and getting a better understanding of the future benefits these projects hold!
